Reflexology is a non-invasive healing modality based on the principle that there are reflex areas on the feet, hands, and ears which correspond to each part of the body. The application of pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, and/or ears helps to release tension, and aids in restoring balance and health in the body. During a reflexology session, clients rest in a reclining chair while the practitioner applies thumb and finger pressures to each foot. Certain reflex areas may feel sensitive or tender to the touch, indicating the need for additional attention to help the body’s energy flow more smoothly. Responses to reflexology vary according to each individual’s needs. Many people describe a profound sense of relaxation, calmed emotions, and increased energy following a session.
